Disney Magic Music Days, Hong Kong Disneyland, March 2008
By Katie Alleva - Senior, Pennsbury High School, PennsylvaniaFor many people, a trip to Disneyland marks that pivotal moment in their lives where their dreams become a reality, and in light of my recent trip to Hong Kong Disneyland I could not agree more. Having gone to Disney World in Florida, I was extremely confused when I arrived at this new park. The sign before me clearly marked it as Hong Kong Disneyland, and I had most defi nitely spent 18 hours on a plane to arrive in Hong Kong. However, I felt as though I had never left the United States. The buildings, the friendly faces, and the ever-lovable Disney characters felt like home to me. I was in a completely different country with new and exciting customs to explore, but when I saw that sign for Space Mountain I could not fight that ever-present teenage urge to ride it 11 times in a row!
What truly made my experience at Disney so wonderful was the opportunity to perform in a parade on Main Street, U.S.A. The Pennsbury High School Marching Band has traveled to some amazing places to perform, and I was honored to be part of the celebration that marked the group's having performed in all the Disney theme parks around the world. No trip could ever parallel a trip to Disneyland, and the kindness and support of the people in Hong Kong is something that I will remember for the rest of my life. I know that bringing happiness to the youth of the world is something that comes naturally to the members of the Disney organization, but I would like them to know that they have the eternal thanks and gratitude of the Pennsbury High School Marching Band.
