Putting on a Magic Show
Disney's Broadway Magic Workshop, Walt Disney World, Florida, May 6, 2010
By Alexa Lively - Seventh Grader, Markham Woods Middle School, Lake Mary, FloridaSupercalifragilisticexpialidocious! That famous word seemed to follow the Markham Woods Middle School Inspire Show Choir of 2010 throughout our magical day at Walt Disney World. On our way to the resort, the bus was filled with smiles and laughter, anticipating the excitement to come.
Once we arrived at Disney we started the day with a workshop... but not just any workshop. We sang, danced and spelled our way into an amazing adventure. We were taught a song from the Broadway musical Mary Poppins and even learned the dance moves from the actual play! By the end we had lights, an audience, and even some costume pieces.
After that, we all loaded onto the bus headed for our next adventure at Downtown Disney to perform at the Waterside Stage. I will never forget that amazing butterflies in my stomach feeling of stepping out onto the stage in my sparkling blue dress looking out at all the people watching. I felt so professional standing up there!
Finally, after all of our work (and fun), we all went to Epcot. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day. The best part about doing all this was having my best friends right beside me the entire time. In our choir, everyone is one big happy family, and our experience at Disney helped us all remember our favorite parts about singing and learning together. This whole experience was truly a dream come true, and a memory I will hold dear for the rest of my life.
